We're already in April of 2026 and I'm just NOW emailing y'all. Shame on me. I apologize. To make it up to you, I thought I'd show you what AI came up with when I randomly asked for a photo that encapsulated the Shady Gully series. Hmmmmmmm. Not sure I'd ever use that as it doesn't seem like Shady Gully at all, but the colors are pretty!!!<br /><br />Speaking of colors, anybody want to guess the color for book 5's cover? Here's the twist: I don't know the color yet either, but as soon as I do, I'll let you know. HOW ABOUT THIS? Let's run a contest! If YOU guess it correctly, I'll send you a digital ARC (Advanced Review Copy) of book 5 when it's ready......!! I'll pick three winners and as soon as I know, you'll know.<br /><br />To enter the contest, all you have to do is:<br />Follow me on Amazon so you'll get updates about my books:&nbsp;<br /><a href="https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08QMRTW5F?binding=kindle_edition&amp;searchxofy=true&amp;ref_=dbs_s_aps_series_rwt_tkin&amp;qid=1775563869&amp;sr=8-1"><font color="#a82e2e">The Shady Gully Series (4 book series) Kindle Edition</font></a><br /><br />Follow me on Bookbub, a fun place to support authors you like:<br /><a href="https://www.bookbub.com/authors/hallie-lee"><font color="#a82e2e">Hallie Lee Books - BookBub</font></a><br /><br />Follow me on Goodreads because it's an awesome site for book lovers:<br /><a href="https://www.goodreads.com/author/dashboard?ref=nav_profile_authordash"><font color="#a82e2e">Author Dashboard | Goodreads</font></a><br /><br />Once you've done that, email me at <a href="mailto:Books@HallieLee.com"><font color="#a82e2e">Books@HallieLee.com</font></a> and guess what primary color you think Book 5 will be!<br /><br />Now for the bad news. Obviously, book 5 didn't make it for the first quarter of 2026. Unfortunately, because of a number of complicated issues that resulted in a backlog on my publisher's end (all too confusing for yours truly to decipher) the release schedule has been pushed back. I'd love to give you an estimate on when it will be ready, but I won't, because I don't want to disappoint you, but it is COMING SOON.<br /><br />A heartfelt apology goes out to the folks who have been waiting patiently. I know some of you have even gone to the trouble of rereading EACH BOOK so you'd be ready for the finale. <em>I'm so, so sorry.</em><br /><br />Now, here's one reason I've been unable to get to my website and write to you.&nbsp;<br /><br />&#8203;<span style="color:rgb(141, 36, 36)">&nbsp;</span></div> <div><div class="wsite-multicol"><div class="wsite-multicol-table-wrap" style="margin:0 -15px;"> <table class="wsite-multicol-table"> <tbody class="wsite-multicol-tbody"> <tr class="wsite-multicol-tr"> <td class="wsite-multicol-col" style="width:50%; padding:0 15px;"> <div><div class="wsite-image wsite-image-border-none " style="padding-top:10px;padding-bottom:10px;margin-left:0;margin-right:0;text-align:center"> <a> <img src="https://www.hallielee.com/uploads/1/3/0/9/130907338/img-0211_orig.jpg" alt="Picture" style="width:auto;max-width:100%" /> </a> <div style="display:block;font-size:90%"></div> </div></div> </td> <td class="wsite-multicol-col" style="width:50%; padding:0 15px;"> <div><div class="wsite-image wsite-image-border-none " style="padding-top:10px;padding-bottom:10px;margin-left:0;margin-right:0;text-align:center"> <a> <img src="https://www.hallielee.com/uploads/1/3/0/9/130907338/sleeping-on-big-bed_orig.jpeg" alt="Picture" style="width:auto;max-width:100%" /> </a> <div style="display:block;font-size:90%"></div> </div></div> </td> </tr> </tbody> </table> </div></div></div> <div><div class="wsite-multicol"><div class="wsite-multicol-table-wrap" style="margin:0 -15px;"> <table class="wsite-multicol-table"> <tbody class="wsite-multicol-tbody"> <tr class="wsite-multicol-tr"> <td class="wsite-multicol-col" style="width:50%; padding:0 15px;"> <div><div class="wsite-image wsite-image-border-none " style="padding-top:10px;padding-bottom:10px;margin-left:0;margin-right:0;text-align:center"> <a> <img src="https://www.hallielee.com/uploads/1/3/0/9/130907338/sunglasses_orig.jpeg" alt="Picture" style="width:auto;max-width:100%" /> </a> <div style="display:block;font-size:90%"></div> </div></div> </td> <td class="wsite-multicol-col" style="width:50%; padding:0 15px;"> <div><div class="wsite-image wsite-image-border-none " style="padding-top:10px;padding-bottom:10px;margin-left:0;margin-right:0;text-align:center"> <a> <img src="https://www.hallielee.com/uploads/1/3/0/9/130907338/img-3666_orig.jpeg" alt="Picture" style="width:auto;max-width:100%" /> </a> <div style="display:block;font-size:90%"></div> </div></div> </td> </tr> </tbody> </table> </div></div></div> <div class="paragraph"><br />Benji!! While I'm not going to be running a marathon any time soon, the swelling in my foot has gone down and I'm getting out and about...in good, supportive shoes.<br /><br />My buddy, author Michelle Bennington, and I, were part of an awesome book event in Shepherdsville, Kentucky, in April. I just couldn't stand the thought of having to stop midway or break the flow of the story, especially to go....well, under the knife. Through the grace of God, I did, and I'm happy to say that after completing some other writing assignments, such as my <em>All God's Creatures</em> devotions for Guideposts, <u>I've now returned to Shady Gully</u>.<br /><br />I wasn't going to announce this yet but decided to share some big news with you, my <u>newsletter subscribers and my most loyal readers.</u><br /><br />It is a fact of life that beginnings are always followed by&nbsp;<strong><em>endings,</em></strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;Book 5 will be the last book in the series. While I love hanging out in Shady Gully with these people, I feel like most of the character arcs have evolved in a way that makes it possible to say goodbye or at least send them off into the proverbial sunset that shines over The Creek and the Cozy Corner.&nbsp;<br /><br />GULP. Just writing that makes me emotional. I ADORE these characters, and I hope you have as well. Anyway,&nbsp;I'll keep y'all up to date on my progress. I don't have an official release date yet, so stay tuned.<br /><br />The good news is, this&nbsp;gives you time to catch up if you aren't up to date in the series. Trust me, you'll want to be current for the finale :)&nbsp;<br /><br /><u>Also, if you've read my books, please take a minute to rate/review them on Amazon and/or Goodreads. It doesn't have to be fancy, just a sentence even, but it really, really, really helps me. Thanks!</u><br /><br />Lastly, congrats to Valerie Smith from Kansas, a new FRIEND of HALLIE subscriber, who won a FREE audiobook of <em>The Shepherds</em>.<br /><br />Speaking of the audiobook, I just started listening to Kathy Fox Vancil's narration of <em>The Shepherds</em>, and wow, she's something special. My husband, Bruce, was the best caregiver. He took two months off and waited on me hand and foot. He cooked and cleaned and carried my elevation pillow from the couch to the bed every time I switched positions. He drove me to all my doctor appointments, and that in itself required a whole level of patience as he had to take my knee scooter apart every time and then put it back together when we arrived at the hospital. And do it all over again for the drive home.<br /><br />Speaking of the knee scooter, we never did get a horn or goggles for Piper, but she finally mounted the beast and whipped it into submission, much to my delight, as the scooter turned out to be one of the most arduous, laborious, and fatiguing challenges of my whole experience.<br /><br /></div> <div><div class="wsite-image wsite-image-border-none " style="padding-top:10px;padding-bottom:10px;margin-left:0px;margin-right:0px;text-align:center"> <a> <img src="https://www.hallielee.com/uploads/1/3/0/9/130907338/editor/piper-on-scooter.jpg?1739899233" alt="Picture" style="width:608;max-width:100%" /> </a> <div style="display:block;font-size:90%">Eye of the Tiger</div> </div></div> <div class="paragraph"><br /><span>Speaking of Piper, if you aren't keeping up with her musings on Facebook <em>(Thursday Thoughts.....by Piper)</em> they're getting rave reviews.
